Do you feel lucky, punk?
Sales Octane #15
My friend Alvaro sent this Real Estate reality to me.
I recently read this book, which has encouraged me to view our current real estate market in a different light… Here is an individual who was given a death sentence (terminal cancer), yet he embraced the situation and choose to make a difference for himself, his family, his friends and perhaps the world.
He could have easily sunk into depression or other negative means of dealing with his new found information. Instead he embarked on a journey to leave an imprint of inspiration and motivation for all who cared to embrace his “last lecture.”
We can choose to view the headlines (of which there are PLENTY) as our death sentence; after all we have seen tremendous companies fail, and countless stories of homeowner despair. However I would challenge you to consider a different view. What if the current economic situation is really an opportunity? Are you prepared to take advantage of this opportunity? I once heard that LUCK is opportunity colliding with preparation. Therefore let’s prepare ourselves for the opportunity that lies before us and generate some LUCK…
For the prospective home buyer
- Interest rates are at the low end of the spectrum
- Housing prices have dipped, providing a buyer’s market
- Government has provided a number of stimulus opportunities
- deductible MI - 1st time home buyer credits
- FHA/VA limit increases
For the prospective home seller
- Interest rates are at the low end of the spectrum
- Builders have reduced their inventories
- Homes are still moving in 60-90 days
Bottom line is that business is out there, but one has to adapt to the cards they are dealt. Randy Pausch did in less than 6 months what most of us might never do in a lifetime.
I would like to ask your help in making my challenge that the next six months be the most rewarding and meaningful months in terms of helping our customers and community to achieve their goals. Over the coming weeks I will be compiling a list of activities and ideas that will be moving me in this direction and would appreciate your feed back and assistance. This is a group effort and from small we will grow big, so with that said I would encourage you to forward this email to others that might want to hold each other accountable to maintaining a positive outlook and making the best out of our market opportunities.
As you probably can tell my friend is a VP of a financial institution and he nailed it.
Business and people need connections. We need each other. We want each other. We can help each other.
We need to link one another together to create an “impact” on today’s social and business environment.
Together we can have the power to move emotion and influence thinking. We can make this seamless by integrating our efforts and perspectives into a lyceum for our public.
I ask you encourage outside of your circle. Break traditional boundaries that create safety. Take every question, statement, testimonial, report, as an opportunity to fashion services for your business and others. Maximize these services with other businesses to provide solutions to your clients, your community and your public.
I'll ask you one more time Punk, do you feel lucky?
Seth Godin just started a triiibe. The triiibe will live for each other. The triiibe will fend for each other. The triiibe will encourage each other. The triiibe will teach each other. The triiibe will heal each other. The triiibe will be a community of givers who will gain perspective and structure from and for each other. The triiibe has a good viiibe!
His book The Triiibe is now available for pre-order at amazon.com.
