The Rat Pack

Sales Octane #38

A couple of months ago my wife and I went to a really "cool" performance of The Rat Pack.

The Rat Pack was a group of popular entertainers, which were at their peak between the1950s and 1960s. Their famous line-up featured Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop.   This group often appeared together on stage and in films in the early-1960s, including the movies Robin and His Merry Men and Ocean's Eleven.  Ocean's Eleven was recently remade with Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Matt Damon.

First, this does not show my age.  We were the youngest ones in the crowd, but you have to look at why we decided to go.

My wife decided to go not only to accompany me, but to experience something new, something different and her take away was great.  She did not realize the enjoyment of the big band sound, the humor in the "rub", and the dancing.

I was thrilled to go because I grew up in a home where this style of music and slapstick comedy was part of my life.  I enjoyed the show and was really comfortable all evening.  I could have stayed for hours.

We both had different expectations and experiences.

Let view this in a buying environment.   When you have buyers, do you interview them separately or together?  Do you make you presentation separately or together?  Do you always engage your clients separately or together?

95% of the Real Estate Agents in this country say "together."  They believe that the buyers can compromise when together.  They believe it is more efficient when speaking with the buyers together.  They believe that the decisions can be made in a timely fashion when they are together.

I wonder?

Will your clients open up to their wants and needs when you meet one on one?    Will they describe their dreams and expectations with better detail when you meet one on one?  Will you be able to build a better relationship one on one?  Can you save time in the end with one on ones?  Will you have better results?

The Rat Pack meant something different to both of us.  Maybe thier dream home means something different to each of them.
