Skirt

I was in the Salon (Great Clips) waiting my turn for my favorite stylist (I love that word - makes me feel like I have a lot of hair) when I overhead, "can you believe she put together that combination."

I just assumed it was the average "entertainment magazine" with pictures of the "worst dressed" in Hollywood.  As they turned the page the conversation continued like this.  "Wow, I never dreamed that is would cost so little."   Again, all I could think of was X-ray skinny models in New York sashaying down runways with plaid, texture, color, volume, and shine.

I was waiting for the next comment to be "How do these women show they're in sync without going overboard?" 

What hit me was quite eye opening.  The younger lady said, "why can't my Realtor show me trendy homes like in this magazine?"  Now my ears were really burning.  These women were reading "Skirt" a trendy women's magazine about fashion, health, food, weight control, beauty, and re-modeling? 

As the ladies were called to their chair, I pick up the magazine and started to flip through the pages.  People were staring, but I did not care.  Right in the middle was an article about re-modeling.  (Well it was called DWELL SWELL, but you get the point).  It was staring me right in the face. 

I went through the magazine racks and found other issues and other magazines.  They each contained sections on homes and the new trends.  They were pushing these women's buttons.

The cover sang about Fashion and Exposure, but content was fluff and housing.  These magazines were appealing to the "no place but home" emotion.  These women (prospects) where thinking about houses, homes, and yards.

Here is a niche, a market of women being overlooked by our industry.  This market has to read a Fashion and Style magazine to find out about trends in our business.  They like fluff.  They like color.  They like fashion.  They like trends.

This niche looks for the spotlight on sideshows, such as belts, hats, slouchy socks, pump handbags, and an extreme entertainment room for their house. 

This is high style and high performance.  This niche is looking for a climactic moment not a Hallmark commercial.  This niche runs together and stuff spreads like wildfire.  This niche is open game, but you better be ready to run with the bulls. 

If you are up for the challenge to work in this niche,  be ready, because this month they are covering the resurgence of length, the staying power of floral, and a in home gym that will rock your world.
