You Got Mail!

Social collateral loves Tweeter, Active Rain, LinkedIn, Digg, etc. You can also include podcasting and video, plus a Google of others!
What has happened to e-mail?
E-mail only approaches one person at the time, unless of course you broadcast, spam, or permission sent.
We work within relationships. One on one. People still prefer doing business on a relationship basis. The warm body effect!
So let's look at a number of ways to increase e-mail collateral:
1. Forward Please!: People will pass along their email when you remind them to. Put a big "Tell a Friend" link in your message. Even if they don't take action on your collateral, they'll see your request and pass it on.
2. Test Your Emails: Make them unbreakable. Test test test to make sure your email can be passed along infinitely without breaking. Viral is the way to go!
3. If Possible Specialize or Treat the forwarders: Include some offer or information that makes recipients look good when they pass along your message. Make a deal, "sneak peak", or a secret code for a discount.
4. Advantage for your friend: Give a reason to your message to their friends. You'll get more forwards from people who feel like they are genuinely helping.
5. Study viral success for your e-mail: You never know what works. Examine all messages. What gets a great response and which returns are poor. Learn what caused the referrals. Start tracking and building material that is likely to be forwarded in all you communications.
These are 5 ways to put a little more in your e-mail. When you truly pass on service or opportunities that are available to your clients or prospects, you have built rapport and growth opportunities.
Use this tool to communicate, build your relationships, and offer opportunity.
